Monitoring results December 2014

17 February 2015

Excavation zone:

The third groundwater monitoring event in the midway has been undertaken. The results from December 2014 confirmed the results of September 2014. The concentrations in wells P481 and P482 are stable or slightly decreasing. This shows that the contaminant level in the soil is still high.

This groundwater monitoring event confirmed that all remediation target values have been reached in the third well (P483).

This monitoring event confirms the results of the monitoring event of September 2014. The remediation target values have been reached in the monitoring wells near the former drum storage area, P446, P449 and P463A.

In the monitoring wells along the tank farm (P447, P448, P450), the remediation target values have been reached for almost all contaminants except for volatile total petroleum hydrocarbons (in all wells) and 1,1-dichlorethane (only in P448). In one well along the tank farm (P465), high concentrations of all contaminants remain.

From the results of the monitoring events of September and December 2014, the Perozone injections in the midway along the former drum storage and around the area of Well P483 will be stopped.  The injections in the excavation zone around wells P481 and 482 and in the Midway along the tank farm need to continue. The next monitoring event is scheduled for May 2015.
